Leader: Tom Waldron
Narrative: Join Steve and Tom for a weekend of paddling on the Columbia. We’ll be paddling Friday - Sunday, 5/31 – 6/2/24 and camping at Vista Park in Skamokawa. Sign-up for whichever paddle fits your schedule or better yet, do all three. Everyone makes their own arrangements if camping. These paddles are individual OOPS trips, not an OOPS event.

Tenasillahe Island is an island in the Columbia River Estuary portion of the Columbia River in Clatsop County, Oregon. It is separated from the mainland and the unincorporated community of Clifton, Oregon by the Clifton Channel, and from nearby Welch Island by the Red Slough. The island was visited by the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and Tenasillahe and Welch were known as the "Marshy Islands". The entire island is part of the Julia Butler Hansen Refuge for the Columbian White-tailed Deer.

Our journey will start from Vista Park in Skamokawa. We’ll paddle our way down behind Price Island, cross the main channel over to Red Slough, between Welch and Tenasillahe Island, clockwise circumnavigate Tenasillahe Island , then back across the main channel, following the west side of Price Island to Vista Park.

We'll meet at the Vista Park Boat launch. Bring Wheels if camping. There is a $5.00 launch fee at the park. Restrooms are available.

The trip is approximately 10.5 nautical miles long. We’ll stop for lunch on the southern tip of Tenasillahe Island.
