Comments and Discussion
This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification. To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group. Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment. If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.
Narrative: Join Dave Smith and myself to paddle in the Willamette from West Linn and check out any currents in the Narrows. Hard to say what the exact river forecast is this far out but guestimate it will be in the 56-57 gauge height above the falls. We will launch from Willamette Park in West Linn at 12 PM and head upriver to the Narrows. There will be some stronger currents and eddies as we pass through the small islands, rock formations and narrow section of the river, a great place to practice in moving water. There is also the option to continue upriver a bit further before heading back. I would expect paddlers will have some moderate currents in the Narrows and should be comfortable paddling in this type of environment. Please bring a helmet, rocks are harder than heads. As we get closer to the trip date, I will update the group on water conditions and weather. Bring snacks/lunch/water. We will make at least one stop along the way to take a break.
