Narrative: Join me for a scenic paddle up the Willamette River next Wednesday. NOAA predicts a mostly sunny day while Sailflow is showing very light winds of 2-4 mph throughout the day. This is Oregon and conditions may change. We'll leave from George Rogers Park in Lake Oswego and paddle upriver about 4 miles to Maddox Woods located behind Goat Island in West Linn. We'll be paddling against a mild current and outgoing tide. However, those same currents and outgoing tide will assist us on our way back. On our way to Maddox Woods, we'll pass by several small islands and where the Clackamas River empties into the Willamette along the way. Once there, we'll take out for breaks and refreshments before our return to our launch site. Total trip distance will be approximately 8 miles. So, come practice your strokes, draws, edging skills and/or bow and stern rudders. There are restrooms available and plenty of free parking at the launch. The portage to the water from the park is best served with "wheels" if you have them. Otherwise, we'll help each other get boats to and from the water.
